Background

Kotone is the youngest child of Harima Mori and Etsuko Mori. Prior to joining the academy, she wanted to help run her family's restaurant when she became older. During this time she had met Mihara Katsuragi alongside with Toru Katsuragi and Yuzuru Aburame; whom became her best friends. A year later, Kotone meets Shino Aburame for the first time.After graduating from the academy, Kotone is assigned on a team with Yohei and Torū under the guidance of Manami Ono. While participating in the Chunin Exams, their team ultimately fails after not being able to pass the first part of the exam.

Personaility

Kotone, in most respects, is a calm and composed yet stern person. She unintentionally comes across as unapproachable or even uninterested since her face doesn’t give much to interpret. In actuality, she is described as fairly kind by those who are close to her. Kotone, however, has a sharp tongue; not being afraid to say what is on her mind at any time. Yōhei has called her ‘mean’ on several occasions because of this. She also has the capacity to be quick tempered. If she loses her composure, she will most likely apologize for displaying such behavior. Some people are genuinely scared to anger her as Kotone can be unpredictable when it comes to what she’ll say or do next. Although she seems like she has everything together, Kotone has some underlying insecurities. She has a great disdain for being compared to others; whether that be positive or negative.Since Kotone was young, she always showed a great concern for people; mainly for those she cares deeply about. She attempts to heal and protect an injured Tōru during Pain’s assault on Konoha and is later seen keeping her colleagues safe while fighting the Ten Tails during the Fourth Great Ninja war. She is willing to put her life on the line if it means that she can protect her loved ones. In her Infinite Tsukuyomi dream, Kotone wanted to have a garden with Shino Aburame.

Appearance

Kotone is a dark-skinned woman with gray eyes and dark brown hair that is usually parted in an asymmetrical style on the right side. Physically, she greatly resembles her mother. Throughout the series, her hair is shown at various lengths. As a genin, her hair is very short; barely reaching past her neck. Prior to the beginning of Part II, her hair has now grown considerably except for her bangs which remain short. After the timeskip, Kotone’s bangs have fully grown; reaching past her bust. During the Blank Period, she chops her hair back to its short length similar to when she was a child; the only noticeable difference is that it is now slightly wavy. In her adulthood, her hair is now longer than as a teenager. It now reaches just below her buttock and her left bang is tucked behind her ear.During her years as a genin, Kotone wears a simple cream-colored shirt underneath a light green, sleeveless kimono blouse while her forehead protector is worn as a belt holding it together and black capri pants with small slits on the bottom, revealing mesh armor that reaches just below her knees. In Part II, Kotone seems to dress more feminine, as she replaces her pants for a sarong style skirt-tied with two ribbons on the right side. She wears a tan top, similar to when she was a child except that she now has short sleeves and sports a black dress underneath and mesh armor covering her arms. For a short period of time, before the start of Part II, her top is different from what she is shown wearing during the series. As she wears a bustier with detached sleeves held by four symmetrical tassels. The attire was retired once she became a Chunin. During the Fourth Great Shinobi War, she wears the standard issue flak jacket. Off duty, Kotone is shown to don either her waitress uniform or a turtleneck sweater and short skirt.
Now a young adult in the Blank Period, she wears a longer sleeved blouse that hangs slightly off her shoulders revealing a mesh armored-tank top, pants and thigh high sandals. She also wears a tassel around her right thigh and her ears are pierced by stud earrings. As a full adult, Kotone’s clothing has become considerably revealing; wearing a white sleeveless button up top, a skirt with a slit on the side, and high heeled sandals. She also has longer earrings and wears a bracelet on her right wrist. Occasionally, she is shown to wear the Intelligence Division uniform.

Originally from Jigoku, after neglecting her past duties due to her laziness, as punishment, Nana was sent to earth and tasked with killing 1000 Yokai tormenting humans. Thus, she was kicked out of Jigoku until the assignment was completed.She now resides on Earth until further notice with their cat, Lulu and streams on the side to make ends meet.
